Enough is Enough!

The news here is not so good as it was yesterday.

The first thought of I and my colleagues on hearing the news from London today was: "Bloody hell, I knew the French would be hacked off at losing the Olympics but this is going a bit far." I know, I know, not politically correct by any means and terribly offensive to our friends across the channel. So, my heartfelt apologies. However, people do seem to have a rather perverse defence mechanism which looks for some humour or distraction in the face of adversity.

Anyway, all joking aside, it would seem that once again we are subjected to a cowardly strike against the innocent by narrow-minded extremists who should be treated like any other disease and eradicated from the face of the planet. Just as there is no longer a place in this world for poverty, there can be no place for this kind of atrocity. Whoever is responsible for this action must be hunted down and dealt with in the only terms that they will understand - execution. So what if it makes them a martyr. Better a thousand dead martyrs cast into oblivion than the injury or death of one more person by their fanatical hands.

Perhaps the members of the G8 - all of whom, I think, have suffered some experience of terrorism - will think about events in London today. Events clearly intended to coincide with the G8 summit. Events that are clearly not acceptable in London, the UK, Europe or the wider world. Events that demand their attention and reaction. Events that must not be allowed to continue. It is time to stamp out the disease of terrorism in the name of any cause and in any guise. And who cares if a few toes are trodden on in the process. If the terrorists are allowed their way, we won't have an toes, limbs or lives to worry about!
