I know I won't be the first to say it, but Bono, Sir Bob Geldof, Midge Ure, and all the other organisers and performers who made the Live8 shows this weekend such a success deserve serious respect! Though I only saw the event on tv, it came across as a resounding success and can only help to spread the message about cancellation of debt and making poverty history. I hope the leaders of the G8 countries have been listening.
Apart from the message, it was great to see so many artists performing so many different styles of music. All were excellent though the highlight for me was the Pink Floyd set. Seeing David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Nick Mason and Richard Wright play together has long been a hope of mine so I was very pleased to see it come true, especially for such an overwhelmingly good cause. I thought their choice of set list was very appropriate particularly "Money" and "Comfortably Numb" - perhaps this is what too many world leaders and too many of us in the developed world have become! We can afford this luxury no longer. Let's all do the right thing and WAKE UP!!!
